Research in the Laboratory

Sakuma Group

We are conducting research on basic technology development concerning "genome editing," which can change the information of the genome. Genome editing generally depends on the introduction of site-specific cleavage into genomic DNA, followed by the utilization of DNA repair mechanisms. Therefore, our research focuses on the advancement of DNA cleavage tools and the manipulation of DNA repair machinery to enable highly efficient and accurate genome editing.
